Hirely ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. By using Hirely, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information when you use Hirely:
- Account information: Your email address and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth).
- Profile information: Your name, school, major, graduation year, target roles, target locations, and skills — provided by you during onboarding or profile updates.
- Resume content: Text extracted from uploaded resume, cover letter, and CV files, or content you paste directly.
- Job data: Job titles, company names, and job descriptions you paste into Hirely, along with AI-generated outputs (tailored resumes, fit scores, outreach suggestions, cover letter points).
- Usage data: Basic request counts for rate limiting purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide and improve the Hirely service:
- To authenticate you and maintain your account.
- To generate tailored resumes, fit scores, outreach suggestions, and cover letter points using the Anthropic Claude AI API.
- To store and display your job applications and tailored resumes on your dashboard.
- To enforce daily usage limits and resume caps.
- To improve our AI prompts and product features (in aggregate, never tied to individual users).
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share data only with:
- Supabase: Our database and authentication provider. Your data is stored in their secure infrastructure.
- Anthropic: Your resume content and job descriptions are sent to the Anthropic API to generate tailored outputs. We send only the minimum information needed.
- Google AdSense: Advertising cookies may be placed by Google AdSense to serve relevant ads. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
- Vercel: Our hosting provider. They process request logs in the normal course of serving the application.
4. Data Retention
Your account and all associated data (profile, tailored resumes, job data) are retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us.
5. Cookies
Hirely uses essential cookies for authentication (via Supabase). We also use Google AdSense, which may set advertising cookies to personalise ads. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data via your profile settings.
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
- Opt out of advertising cookies via your browser or a consent management tool.

7. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data: encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords via Supabase Auth, and Row Level Security on our database so each user can only access their own data. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
Hirely is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Hirely after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
